Translation - English Chapter 3 Foreign Trade Policy
(1)
A: We heard you’re implementing a new trade policy, is this true?
B: Our trade policy is consistent. We’re learning from experience to try to get rid of some rigid methods. We’re adopting international trading methods.
A: This way will be more convenient.
B: We hope for genuine cooperation with your company.
(2)
A: Mr. Wang, your company recently adopted trading policies that are more flexible that in the past. You must be very busy?
B: Yes, very.
A: What type of methods have you adopted? Would you give us a brief introduction?
B: Well, for example, now we can adopt payment by installments, manufacturing goods according to the client’s sample, joint ventures and compensation trade.
A: Oh, that’s great. These specific are more flexible than before. I am confident that this way, when the time comes to trade, we’ll make great progress.
(3)
A: I heard your country has started accepting private and government loads, is this correct?
B: Yes, it is. We’re still a developing country. We need to carry out the Four Modernizations necessary for capital. By doing this, we will need to find more ways for our country to build prepared capital.
A: Our circle of business friends has the opportunity to introduce different kinds of cooperation with China. They’re all very happy about it.
B: We are also confident that each country’s businesses are able to start working with us. Our policy is in need of foreign experts, but we can’t rely on them. We need to be mostly self-reliant by having plans to introduce some advanced technology and complete facilities. We need to stick to mutually beneficial and commonly shared principles.
A: We understand this point. Our company is willing to do all it can to help build your country’s economy. If it’s necessary, we’d be willing to offer you a favorable rate on a loan.
B: All we need is suitable terms and we can consider either private or governmental loans.
(4)
A: You’ve made some adjustments to your importing and exporting, correct?
B: Yes, we have, mainly in the importing of complete sets of equipment.
A: Are you prepared to introduce them?
B: Not yet. According to my knowledge, we still need to import some advanced technology and complete sets of equipment from abroad. Of course, these are planned and selective importations because the policy we insist on is that our imports need to be in accordance with our country’s buying power.
A: If you’re interested in the continuing introduction of technology and completed equipment, our company will do our best. You know our company’s technology is first rate and our conditions of terms are the most favorable.
B: Thank you. We hope our companies truly cooperate with one another. Our policy of a foundation of self-reliance, using foreign capital and the introduction of advanced technology is unchanging. Mr. Ito, would you please share this point with the business circles within your country?
A: Certainly, certainly.
(5)
A: May I ask if you’re able to manufacture goods according to your client’s example?
B: We can. We can also use the buyer’s materials and specified packaging.
A: Ah, this is definitely a big improvement.
B: We can also use parts supplied by the buyer, spare parts, in order to assemble or construct specific equipment.
A: In regards to other aspects, what new methods do you have?
B: We can negotiate according to both parties’ needs.
A: Then how do we ask about prices? Do you still insist on your own prices?
B: We have adjusted prices according to the quotations of the international market.
A: We are positive that this way, our output will consistently increase. This benefits both parties.
