Penso che ci sia un errore di battitura e si tratti del verbo avvolgersi.
http://www.treccani.it/vocabolario/avvolgere/ - c. ant. Aggirarsi per un luogo: Pel bosco Ferraù molto s’avvolse (Ariosto).
Cioè, le infermierine si aggiravano intorno ai letti. In russo si può tradurre in vari modi a seconda del contesto e dello stile.
Quando un aggettivo viene usato dopo il verbo, indica sia la caratteristica che il modo di fare. Perciò, per rendere la frase scorrevole in russo, propongo di tradurre uno con un aggettivo e l'altro con un avverbio - "Стройненькие медсестрички легко порхали/кружились..."
Avvolgersi in questo caso può essere tradotto anche come крутились о суетились, allora l'intera frase sarebbe "Стройненькие, лёгкие медсестрички крутились/суетились...", perché l'avverbio легко non suona bene con крутились о суетились.
