dato che non stai traducendo un certificato di laurea o un documento analogo, io privilegerei la godibilità del testo per il lettore. Docente fa capire benissimo che si tratta di un'opinione autorevole espressa in contesto accademico.

Che poi sia professore, professore dottore, dottore professore non fa differenza per il lettore.
