does the word "attach" fit well in the following context ? I have some doubts ...
===
How to switch between the language layouts?

XXX supports more than a dozen layouts for different languages. Before you start work with the program you should *** attach *** the layouts you need.

The ***attached *** layouts are switched by the key "*" cyclically.

For example, you type the message comprising Russian and English characters. If you ***have attached *** only English and Russian layouts, the key "*" will switch them as follows: En → Ru → En.

Of course, you may *** attach *** all available layouts, but this will not be convenient. For example, if you ***attach *** 5 language layouts but use only 2, you will have to perform 3 spare keypresses to switch from Russian to English language: Ru → Fr → It → Es→ En.

The same principle is used in the Windows OS for switching between input languages on a PC.

Because of this we advice you to attach only the layouts you will actively use.
