Dutch term

bestekboek

Dutch to English Other Food & Drink Espresso bars
...dus maken hand- en bestekboeken deel uit van de scholing.

I've encountered the term in the field of construction, but I really have no clue here aside from it being related to silverware/cutlery.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): writeaway

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Thank you all for your input. I discussed it with the editor of the project and we decided to go for manual considering the educational context. In general, specifications seems to be the most popular choice.
philgoddard Sep 17, 2017:
Jack Could we have the first half of the sentence, please.
Textpertise Sep 17, 2017:
Dictionary definition The dictionary definition is scrapbook. So making handbooks and scrapbooks would be part of the training course. Does thar fit your context? (Not necessarily to do with cutlery),

It makes more sense for it to mean the normal construction site used word because of handboeken: handbooks/manuals and specifications.

Good luck!

scrapbook

Dictionary definition. Handbooks could contain formal procedures for preparing certain foods and drinks, health and safety information and the like. Scrapbooks could contain recipes, photographs and menus collected in the course of the studies, maybe even evidence of the student's own efforts in preparing certain items.

neutral philgoddard : I can't find any dictionary that says this, but I'm open to persuasion...

You may be right. All authoritative dictionaries give the construction meaning. Both the ProDict and AllDict series of dictionaries who make apps for Android define it as scrapbook. I concede they may not be very authoritative but seem OK on the whole.
