English term

complete acquisition

English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
"Rio Tinto completes acquisition of 100% of Alcan"

In order to properly translate into French, looking to confirm what "completes acquisition" exactly means here: "proceeds to..." or "finalizes the acquisition of" (in French "conclut l'acquisition de" or "finalise l'acquisition de").

Thanks!

Note that "completes" is a verb here.

It means that the aquisition has been finalised.

obtain (majority) ownership

Acquisition: The act of one company buying another. The acquisition is complete when the buying company obtains majority ownership of the target company. http://www.axial.net/glossary/

*In this case 100% ownership
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : complete in the context is used as a verb. / the use of majority, 100% (ownership) make me think you see complete as an adjective.

Are you saying that "obtain" is not a verb? If the explanation confused you, it is not an interpretation of the context but a definition of acquisition that should solve the question.
