Spanish term

Media montaña

Spanish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters

upland/highland

In this case, since the village is at an altitude of just 570 metres, I would avoid the word "mountain". The area is a high hilly area rather than a mountain range.

upland
(also uplands)
■ noun an area of high or hilly land.

highland
■ noun (also highlands) an area of high or mountainous land.
Peer comment(s):

agree moken : Imo, media montaña here refers to the relative altitude of the mountains themselves, not where the village is located on any particular mountain. 'Highland village' would describe it well I think. :O) :O)

a mountain village at a moderate height

the village is not very high up, according to this description of A Cañiza:
