Б-г или Бог Я когда-то заинтересовался этим вопросом. Раввины объясняют, что надо писать Б-г, когда есть опасность, что носитель информации, содержащий написанное имя Божье, окажется в непотребном месте, например, в мусорке или, извините, в туалете. Суть такова, насколько я помню.
