Nothing keeps me up Aug 19

I learned how to fully relax about 35 years ago. Took biofeedback training. It changed my life.

Other Aug 19

The stifling summer heat here in Spain. Last night it was 3 AM before the indoor temperature was bearable enough to go to bed. I was outdoors until then, and every time I started to doze off I was startled awake by mosquitoes or some other, more loudly buzzing insects...

Nothing keeps me awake at night! Aug 19

I sleep quite well, occasionally if I’m too tired it takes forever to fall asleep but nothing that a good book can’t cure…

Interesting TV programmes Aug 19

I stay up deliberately and willingly to watch the most interesting TV programmes most of which are broadcast late at night (BBC 4 in particular).

Television most often...

I'm a sucker for anything with Geordies, from Inspector Lewis to Vera Stanhope, even though I have seen them all at least three times... I sit up long hours with a book now and then too.

Work, family problems and money are best sorted out early in the day, then they don't keep you awake.

Very occasionally I stay up into the small hours over a tight deadline, but not nearly as often as I used to.

I don't need anyting to keep me up at night, I stay up on my own and like it this way. The very wording of this question is one more evidence of this world being dominated by early birds who can't even imagine some people may have a different circadian rhythm.

I do so sympathise!

My theory is that back when people lived in caves, the ones who stayed awake at night were vital to survival. Someone had to watch the fire.
Babies don't necessarily sleep at night, and someone has to keep an eye on the youngest while the rest are asleep.

Society still needs night owls, and I find few things more beautiful than the night sky - stars in winter and the wonderful northern twilight at midsummer...

I don't take midday naps often, but from around 3-4-5 in the morning til 10-11 I am not at my best!
(Sunrise is just sunset played backwards, as some wise guy put it!)

Why do all the good TV programmes start so late?

@Teresa - Agree! Aug 19

An hour or so reading in bed has always been the best way to end the day for me, but now my kill-joy doctor says it's a bad thing to do. Whatever next - I won't be able to drink coffee all morning? ☹️
