Possible solution for "Unable to open DVX3" Sep 29, 2017

I managed to solve the problem of DVX3 crashing after Windows update.
I am running Japanese version of Windows 10.
This solution may or may not work in other langauge versions of Windows 10.

By analyzing the error log, I noticed that DVX3 was looking for a file under the non-existant directory:
ProgrameData¥ATRILl¥Deja Vu X3

while the correct path is
ProgrameData¥ATRILl¥Déjà Vu X3

I created
ProgrameData¥ATRILl¥Deja Vu

I created
ProgrameData¥ATRILl¥Deja Vu X3

and copied the entire content of
ProgrameData¥ATRILl¥Déjà Vu X3

It is absolutely nessesary to have both directories to make tweak to work.
This setup survived Windows 10 updates without blocking any particular update - such as problematic KB4034674.

Hope this will help other DVX3 users.

What should I do?

Has your computer crashed? Gotten malware or similar situation?

You may go to www.atril.com and search their support, or write to [email protected] with a detailed question.

Déjà Vu requires the settings file to be present in order to operate. For DVX2, the file is settings.dvset and it is found in C:/Users/[computer username/All Users]/ATRIL/Déjà Vu X2/
If you use DVX3, just go to C:/Users/[computer username/All Users]/ATRIL/Déjà Vu X3/

I am no DVX support technician, but I have been using the product since 1999.

Good luck!
