Source text - Greek Στο νοτιοδυτικό τμήμα της Φολεγάνδρου , στον οικισμό της Άνω Μεριάς , σε ένα από τα γαλήνια μέρη του νησιού, βρίσκονται οι δυο τουριστικές κατοικίες. Οι κατοικίες έχουν κατασκευαστεί με πρόθεση να ενταχθούν στο φυσικό ανάγλυφο της περιοχής και να σεβαστούν τις κτιριολογικές και μορφολογικές απαιτήσεις του νησιού.
Τα κτίρια αναπτύσσονται γραμμικά , παράλληλα προς τις υψομετρικές καμπύλες του οικοπέδου και τη θέα, σε ισόγειους όγκους με διαφορετικά ύψη. Ο σχεδιασμός των εξωτερικών χώρων των δυο κατοικιών ακολουθεί την πεποίθηση ότι ο εξωτερικός χώρος οφείλει να συνδέεται με τον εσωτερικό και να αποτελεί συνέχεια του.
Ζητούμενο ήταν η συνεχής χρήση των εξωτερικών χώρων και η μεταφορά αρκετών λειτουργιών έξω. Στον κύριο κυβικό όγκο της μιας κατοικίας έχει προσαρτηθεί μικρότερος ημικυκλικός. Συνέχεια αυτού αποτελεί ο ημικυκλικός διάτρητος τοίχος που δημιουργεί την είσοδο του ημι-υπαίθριου χώρου που συνδέει τις δυο κατοικίες και ενοποιεί την όψη. Αυτό είναι και το σημείο των εξωτερικών χώρων που λειτουργεί σαν εστία, σαν σημείο συνάντησης και επικοινωνίας, καθώς αποτελεί την κοινή αυλή των δυο κατοικιών με τον χώρο του μπάρμπεκιου και το καθιστικό αλλά και το σημείο που οδηγεί τον επισκέπτη προς την εντυπωσιακή θέα. Έχουν κατασκευαστεί χτιστοί καναπέδες οι οποίοι στεγάζονται με πέργκολα. Ξύλινες πέργκολες έχουν επίσης κατασκευαστεί για ηλιοπροστασία λόγω του προσανατολισμού των κτηρίων, μπροστά από τους επιμέρους χώρους των κατοικιών οι οποίες εν τέλει δημιουργούν ζώνες ιδιωτικότητας συνδυαστικά με τα ξύλινα διαχωριστικά (πετάσματα)
Τα υλικά κατασκευής είναι η πέτρα στα τοιχία των διαμορφώσεων και σε ορισμένους κτηριακούς όγκους, πλάκες για τις αυλές και τον περιβάλλοντα χώρο. Λευκό χρώμα στα ξύλινα στοιχεία, στους κτηριακούς όγκους και σε μιρά παρτέρια ώστε να υπάρχει εναλλαγή με τη χρήση πέτρας. Η φύτευση είναι προσαρμοσμένη στην χλωρίδα της περιοχής και έχει δοθεί έμφαση στα ελαιόδεντρα.
Translation - English At the southwestern area of the island of Folegandros, at the settlement of Ano Meria, in one of the most tranquil areas of the island, two guest residences are settled. The residences have been constructed with the intention to be part of the area’s natural terrain and to meet the building and morphological requirements of the island.
The buildings are developed linearly, parallel to the elevation curves of the land and the view, with ground floor volumes in different heights. The exterior space’s design of the two residences follows the idea that the exterior space must be connected with the interior and be its continuation.
One of the main issues was the constant use of the exterior space by transferring outside as many as possible functions. A smaller semicircular volume has been attached to the main cubic volume of one of the residences. Its continuity is the semicircular perforated wall that creates the entrance to the semi-outdoor space that connects the two residences and unifies the exterior space. This is exterior space area functions as the main focus, a meeting point since it is the common courtyard for both residences with a barbecue and sitting area, which also guides the visitor towards the magnificent view. Built-in sofas covered with a pergola have been constructed. The wooden pergolas have also been constructed to offer shade due to the buildings’ orientation, in front of the residences’ individual spaces which ultimately in combination with the wooden partitions create privacy zones.
The construction materials that were used, is rock for the configuration walls and some buildings, slabs for the courtyards and the surrounding area. The wooden elements, the buildings, and the small flower beds were painted white in order to create an interchange with the rock element. The planting is tailored to match the area’s flora with an emphasis on olive trees.
