EXPERT SURVEY ON CITIZEN-POLITICIAN LINKAGES


Please answer the questions in this survey by circling (if on paper) or clicking on (if you are filling the electronic survey) the response(s) that best capture, in your opinion, the practices, the organization and the policy positions of national parties in the USA.


In answering the questions, please reflect on the current situation in the USA. With the exception of a very small number of questions asking you to evaluate the trend over the last decade, questions refer to the present.


The questionnaire has five parts, as follows:

Part A: 12 questions on how parties are organized in the USA;

Part B: 13 questions on practices of contingent exchange between politicians to voters;

Part C: 6 questions on elections and monitoring of peoples votes by political parties in the USA;


Part D: 8 questions on the policy positions of these parties;

Part E: 5 questions on the importance of different electoral practices that parties adopt.

Part A



Political parties differ greatly in the extensiveness of their local and municipal-level organizations. Some parties have very little organization below national level Executive Committees and Conferences, or maintain local (county or municipal) offices and staff only intermittently during important election periods. Other parties have a permanent presence at the county and municipal level, with real estate, professional staff, and ongoing interaction between the community and local party members.

Part A: 정당 조직


정당들은 지역 수준 (과거의 국회의원 선거구별 지구당 조직이나 현재의 지역구별 당협위원회 수준을 의미)의 조직화 정도에서 많은 차이를 보입니다. 일부 정당들은 중앙당 이하의 지역 조직들을 거의 갖추고 있지 않거나 주요 선거시기에만 일시적으로 운영합니다. 이에 반해 일부 정당들은 지역사무소와 상근 직원들을 갖추고 지역사회와의 상시적 연계를 유지하기도 합니다.
