Italiano term

reso da conto/lavorazione

Da Italiano a Inglese Affari/Finanza Vino/Enologia/Viticoltura invoice
This is invoice for the sale of wine apparently in bulk to be bottled, I believe.
The concept of "reso da conto lavorazione" also appears as "restituzione da conto lavorazione".
My feeling is that this is not referring to a bookkeeping account, but something like "returned for/form processing". This is one column. The last column on the right is headed as "litri", i.e., "liters".

Actually conto (in this context) is a shortened (bureaucratic/ in Italian we'd say "ragionieristica") form for **in conto**. See it as the English **on the account of** (= for) and you'll see through it...

Cheers Maurizio

Conto here In these case conto just means "per", here a link http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=40922
SYLVY75 Jun 30, 2010:
hello Phil,

in Italian, the word 'conto' comes up pretty much everywhere when talking about transport documents ('conto visione'. 'conto lavorazione', 'conto vendita', etc.). It doesn't actually add anything to the meaning of the operation in itself (visione, lavorazione, vendita, etc), but it's the correct technical term and everybody uses it. In fact, it would be strange to find a transport document where the word 'conto' is omitted.

Sorry if I'm being slow, but I still don't understand what "conto" means. And Paul, is that slash there in the original?
Angie Garbarino Jun 29, 2010:
mmmm then the bottler returned the bottles full of wine still conto lavorazione as he filled the bottles.
Paul Sadur (asker) Jun 29, 2010:
clarification I did some research on the net. This is an invoice from the bottler to the winemaker for bottling the wine. The wine was exported to the USA and sold by a US company. The customers complained that the wine was defective and some of the bottles even exploded. The US company is suing the winemaker and the winemaker may implead or has impleaded the bottler, which is the entity that sent this invoice.
Angie Garbarino Jun 29, 2010:
meaning... It means that after having transformed the material it is returned (lavorato) to the owner, in my first life I worked as an accountant with invoices and transport documents.

returned after processing

I understand that the winemaker gave the wine to another company in order to have it bottled (each bottle = 1 liter, as stated at the end of the line). Your question refers to the transport document stating that the wine was 'returned after processing'. In this case, the 'processing' phase is simply the bottling of the wine.

My two cents.

neutral Angie Garbarino : no refund qui, è un reso di merce non un rimborso, ma non ricordo la preposizione...

disagree Claudia Cherici : 3 parole così, senza nesso logico...e comunque il senso non è refund, è return
