agree philgoddard : "Real estate properties" and "ownership title" are both tautologies. But this is on the right lines.

For centuries lawyers were paid by the word, so legal language is just filled with the things. Their excuse is that excess redundancy in the language reduces the chance of ambiguity creeping in. // Also the European Central Bank uses the term officially.

The question deviates again fropm the source quote.

Full ownership or in E&W law: held 'for an estate absolutely in fee simple in possession' may contrast with assets that are charged with a mortgage or 'usufruct': EN = life or beneficial interest/ (Scots law) usufruct or a liferent.

Example sentence:

assets in the possession of the insolvent trustee are assets ofthe trust, whereas the creditors claim that the assets are owned absolutely by the insolvent debtor

neutral James (Jim) Davis : Hi Adrian, fixed assets are immobilizzazioni or attività non correnti (as in IFRS 5). Immobili (very similar but a narrower term) is what they yanks and others call real estate.
