Italiano term

gelato artigianale

HELP!!

thanks very much
agree Angela Arnone : Handmade - BUT ABSOLUTELY ***NOT*** handicraft

thanks...you are right, handmade is more near.
neutral awilliams : My only worry is that "handmade" suggests that they don't use machines and we don't know that. "Handicraft" doesn't work with ice cream.

handmade that is not industrialized.
agree Jean Martin : Sainsbury's refers to handmade ice cream and manufacturer in the same phrase

thanks
agree Jennifer Baker : handmade ice cream, without the dash!

thanks
disagree Peter Cox : We wouldn't use "handmade" for ice cream in English - unless we worked for Sainsbury's evidently!

i meant "not industrialized"
neutral writeaway : handicraft is never an adjective in the best of times and would never be used for ice cream.

house-made ice-cream

Ciao Rachele,
*house-made* is common when speaking of restaurants, ice-cream parlors etc

You could also say *artisanal ice-cream*, which I'm not crazy about , or *ice-cream made on the premises*
Peer comment(s):

agree awilliams : I prefer "ice cream made on the premises" but it is pretty long-winded. "... made in-house"?

gourmet ice cream

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : gourmet just means more calories and more costly, particularly in US. has nothing to do with industrial or not.
