This will have to do with responsive webdesign where a header image can be specified but *upwards of a certain screen width*, a section of the image will be obscured (…covered/overlapped …) in the middle.

Explanation: The text describes a wide-format header image. At narrow device widths, e.g. a smartphone, the header image will appear above the content of the web page. As the browser width increases, the header image grows larger and larger, pushing the heading and content further down the screen (desktop screens are wide and shorter in comparison to a smartphone held upright). To counteract this, the web designer may push the start of the content block upwards so that it overlaps some of the header image. Often the header image is wider than the central text column so that a rectangle in the lower-middle section of the image is covered up.
