French term or phrase: en liquide ou cash

In my text, it talks about "des billets d'avion qui ont été réglés en liquide ou cash". I think they were purchased in an agency of the airline but it's not clear. I would have translated both as "paid for in cash". Does anyone know the difference? in kind?

'Argent liquide' is a much older expression than cash. It refers to silver which 'flows'. Then you have terms like liquidate which are derived from this. I was incorrect when I said dough. Cash is , once again, a an adopted English term. Never at all cheque or debit card !

Wouldn’t this be just be a case of using “ou” to mean “or in other words”? “liquide, or [in other words] cash”. Maybe it’s just poorly punctuated?

the writer was a bit of a twit, trying to show off that he knew the English word for "liquide"? In that case, he or she didn't mean anything different.

Here's a dictionary entry, it does mean 'cash' but how that differs from 'liquide' I don't know. Could be a misnomer for something else. As everyone suggests - check with the client. http://www.languefrancaise.net/bob/detail.php?id=28749

I think it means paid for straight away, without formal invoicing (eg, by a company credit card), but I'm not sure, just a vague memory from my years living in France.

Liquide is cash, so either they don't know their franglais or they mean something else. I'd flag this for the author (client).

The writer is just using different slang words for 'physical money' cash is one of them when you say it in french...it's almost as if the writer is defining 'liquide' in the phrase..
