9.2.1 Short Circuit Running (preferred method for a.c. machines)
The stator terminals should be short-circuited by connecting the three main terminals together. Where the three neutral connections are separate, then these should also be bonded together. Connections must be made with cable or copper strip of adequate section to carry the full-load current of the machine.
Where possible, suitable current transformers should be connected in each phase. If these are not available then other arrangements must be made to check that approximately equal current flows in each phase during the dry-out (e.g. by using a clip-on ammeter). The stator frame must be connected solidly to Earth.
