Discussion

jyuan_us Feb 18, 2006:
It is verb!
Angus Woo Feb 17, 2006:
weiwei is right. It really depends on what type of cuisine you are talking about. If the ingredient is part of a dish (besides the main ingredient), then "side dish" is not the right term.
Denyce Seow Feb 16, 2006:
Really depends on what kind of cuisine we are talking about here. "Side dish" works more for Western cuisine rather than Chinese cuisine.
Naikei Wong Feb 16, 2006:
From Cambridge Adv. Learner's: I'd like a side dish/(MAINLY US) side order of potatoes, please (= some potatoes on a separate plate).

cooking preparation

If it is used as a verb I would put it as cooking preparation, otherwise I agree with "garnish" or "side dish, side order"

ingredients

How many ingredients /cheeses does it include? I just want lettuce and pickles. I want all the ingredients/cheeses.

garnish -
to decorate food with a small amount of different food:
Garnish the dish with parsley before serving.

由于 the asker is asking:
'Anything better than chopping/preparing?'

agree Naikei Wong : garnish (e.g. vegies) for what goes into the same plate...
