VALVE SIZING

USE ONLY XXX MECHANICAL VALVE SIZERS TO MEASURE THE PATIENT’S TISSUE ANNULUS.
A complete set of sizers must be sterilized prior to surgery and be available in the operating room.
For sterilization instructions, refer to the sterilization section of the Physician’s Manual packaged with the sizers.
Do not use cracked or deformed sizers.
Valve sizing is determined using the *barrel-end sizer*, which should pass readily, without resistance, through the annulus (see Figure 1).
