Spanish term (edited):
un cargo contable
a debit entry in the books
'....por el cierre de su planta en Alemania..' looks more like a notional 'debit' or charge-off entry on paper for write-off of the German plant.

: Strongly agree. Yes, it is an entry,a one-time entry, but 'cargo contable' has connotations of debit. It appears that the company is closing an affiliate in a foreign country; no matter it is doing so at a profit or loss.

Thanks and gracias! I came within a whisker of a figurative write-off on paper....
