...muy malas experiencias en este lugar, en donde las LANCHAS de pasean por el primer piso del Restaurant y las cucarachas están presentes en los baños...

This text comes from Chile (a review of a restaurant) and I know a "lancha" is normally a boat or even a flat stone slab... but I cannot find anything appropriate for this one. I would guess it is some kind of animal similar to a cockroach.

Can anybody shed a little light on this one?

It's got to be lauchas It makes perfect sense in the context. The Diccionario de americanismos says "ratón, especialmente pequeño". (It also says that in Chile and Argentina it can mean "persona menuda y delgada".) I'd just put "mice". Someone should post it, and Susan was first.

TYPO? Like Susan and Gallagy, I think they're most likely talking about "mice" here. It's got to be some kind of animal anyway.

Thank you Susan, that is probably right, although the person does say "lancha" twice.... isn't "laucha" also a dirty old man? I hope there weren't too many of those wandering around the restaurant... not sure what would be worse! :-)
