English to Portuguese Other Accounting
Good morning! I can't think of a good way to translate this into Portuguese in a way that will make sense? This "accept liability to any other person" is what is confusing me....

It's an income statement (demonstração do resultado).

Thanks!

"We do not assume responsibility towards or accept liability to any other person for the contents of this report"

Discussion

Martin Riordan Jun 18, 2012:
accept liability to any other person "to be liable to someone" means to take responsability if anything goes wrong for that someone. The author here is saying that "we will not accept the blame from any other person if they claim the contents of this report was injurious to them". As I suggest in my answer, the two phrases "assume responsability towards" and "accept liability to" have very similiar meanings IMHO, though they may have some subtle legal difference. Or it may be a lawyer trying to cover all possible options, expressing the same idea in two different ways. Remember that "liability" often results in payment of damages. This is the possibility that the legalese is trying to exclude.

Ok, since a few of you already submitted your suggestions, I don't think I will close this question. I will close the other one instead... Thanks and sorry for the confusion!
Mary Palmer (asker) Jun 18, 2012:
Hi Martin. I don't think there is enough space. But I will submit a new question showing only the part I am having difficulty with and will close this one. Thanks!
Martin Riordan Jun 18, 2012:
@Mary If your difficulty is the phrase at the bottom, maybe you should put it as the term to be translated.
Mary Palmer (asker) Jun 18, 2012:
Thanks Salvador for your suggestion. For clarification purposes, the text written below is what I need help with. I wrote the word "CONTEXTO "because they wouldn't let me write "see below". :)

"We do not assume responsibility towards or accept liability to any other person for the contents of this report"

Thanks!

Não assumimos responsabilidade perante qualquer terceiro pelo conteúdo deste relatório.

In translation to PT, I think these two phrases can be fused into one: "assume responsibility towards or accept liability to"
