Could you please write down the context? "Kaliwat" (in Ilonggo/Hiligaynon) also means "brood". Matt. 3:7 -- You brood of vipers! (Kamo nga mga kaliwat sang mga man-og!). http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?version=71&search=matt ...

brood/offspring/descendant

In Ilonggo, kaliwat is "brood"....

It could be "offspring" (the children)... or descendant.

This term exists in Tagalog, Cebuano and Hiligaynon/Ilonggo. But I doubt "nationality" as its translation.... The context would really help.

left and

I'm not dialect-savvy as the others, but the most simple explanation for that is that it is a contraction. kaliwa + at = kaliwa't. it means left and. the only way to be sure if I am correct is to check the original text. if the word that follows kaliwat is "kanan", "taas", "baba", or any other tagalog word that denotes a direction, then it means "left and".
