Italian term or phrase:ipodiafania
English translation:reduced transparency

Italian to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / X-ray report
Italian term or phrase: ipodiafania
Rx Torace: Persiste la tenue e sfumata *ipodiafania* in sede basale destra.

Can't find this in any previous KudoZ question (or even "diafania").

Even more, I'd appreciate suggestions or confirmation on the rest of the phrase: "The mild, blurred [ipodiafania] in the right base is still present."

This is from a report of a patient's inpatient testing and treatment in a "servizio di fisiopatologia respiratoria". The patient's diagnoses were COPD, atrial fibrillation, respiratory insufficiency.

Thanks for your help and input!

reduced transparency
Explanation:
L'ipodiafania è un termine radiologico che descrive una ridotta trasparenza di una sede anatomica ( il polmone) abitualmente distesa da aria.In genere è espressione di un' alterazione infiammatoria o è la conseguenza di una mancanza di distensione aerea dovuta a qualche impedimento del bronco.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Ciao TLDC. I wasn't going to comment because I appreciate your input in this question, but now that SJLD has posted her Disagree ... yes I agree with her. I didn't find "supernormal opacity" even once in a google search after I read your answer, and "hypodiaphaneity" appears maybe 4 times ... a clear indication that the term is not commonly used in medicine. We always need to run a context check before submitting an answer. Your answer did at least help me to understand what this expression is trying to say.

Domanda
