“One of the best translations I have ever reviewed.”

I'm an English mother tongue professional, translating highly technical Italian and Spanish documents into English. I’ve been working as a full-time pro translator since 1999 and some of my hands-on experience includes: major projects in the engineering sector, jobs in the automotive sector for many major names, first-hand experience in the energy sector and alternative energy projects, as well as major tenders in the rail sector, on-going projects in the medical sector, first-hand experience in business and insurance.

Clients tend to contact me when they want a “way with words” rather than a rendition “word for word” so if you want to translate an Italian or Spanish document into English, send me an Email and I'll get back to you asap.

Here’s what some of my other clients have to say: Willingness to Work Again

I’ve been using CAT tools since SDLX in 2003 and work with Trados Studio 2017 on a daily basis.

I also use MemoQ, Memsource and Cafetran CAT tools.

I use Subtitle Edit to produce timecoded English .srt files of transcribed English audio/video, or English subtitles for Italian/Spanish audio/video.

I’ve translated several books and am also a writer. You can find some of my writing here:

Some of the books I’ve translated:

The Amazing Journey of Reason from DNA to Artificial Intelligence by Mario Alemi

Money Management by Andrea Unger

I translated the screenplay for “Off the ropes” (Fuori Dalle Corde) by Fulvio Bernasconi - nominated for best film at the 2008 Swiss Cinema Festival.

For a few years I worked as a journalist and part of the editorial staff for the music/cultural magazine Riviera Beat, and I still love writing with a passion. I have also worked as an interpreter at Rimini Trade Fair, for international journalists, and the Marco Pantani Foundation. In 2008 I was short-listed by Robert Half (Turin) as Director of the Fiat Group’s languages dept.
I enjoy my work and take pride in providing a quality service, meeting deadlines and giving feedback in a friendly, 2-way relationship with the client. I prefer not to accept jobs with deadlines that are unrealistic, as the quality of the translation and delivery on time are essential.  Where I'm coming from:
My grandfather made his name during the Second World War making rubber boats for the commandos with Bostik. My grandmother taught me everything I know about tennis, and other noble sports. My father was chief engineer in the Royal Navy, part of the team that commissioned the first Polaris subs. He moved on to become chief nuclear safeguards engineer at Hunterston power station, and finally specialised in Quality Assurance. He taught me a lot about many things. My mother was a stage actress, and I'm sure she's responsible for my passion for music, art, and writing.

I was born in England in 1965 and brought up on Treasure Island with swashbuckling pirates, hobbits, and sci-fi. I went to school, played rugby, chased girls and did all the usual things young boys do, including some that didn't go down too well with the powers that be. After moving to London I worked in the music business, then as a photographer, before marrying my beautiful Italian wife and moving to "il bel paese" where we opened a beach bar and had 3 beautiful babies, who are strapping young girls now. I worked as an English teacher at the International Forum Languages School of Forli before starting my career as a full-time professional translator 7 years ago.

Where I'm at:
I'm currently working as a full-time professional translator.
I enjoy my work and take pride in providing a quality service, meeting deadlines and giving feedback in a healthy, 2-way relationship with the client that has often become a friendship. I prefer not to accept jobs with deadlines that are unrealistic, as the quality of the translation and delivery on time are essential.

Apart from my family and work, my passions are writing and kiting. You can find some of my writing on the Personal Page of this profile or at the links below. My hobbies include extreme/outdoor sports, mountain climbing, bivying, camping on mountains, ski mountaineering, freediving, kitesurfing, surfing, windsurfing, motorcycling and I love messing around with classic bikes and cars, especially if they've got Triumph or Harley written on them it seems. After restoring a 1970 Triumph Bonneville a few years ago, I’m currently restoring a 1966 Triumph Spitfire MkII to her original glory. Here’s a few pics.

I also collaborate with clients in the motorbike
sector and currently ride (and do all my own work on) a Harley.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about my translation work. Send me an Email to discuss a potential translation project.
