I've enjoyed the polls because they have shown me a lot about how colleagues do business, and they have given me inspiration--especially in the discussions. I'm sure that some of the ideas I've gotten from colleagues will incubate, hatch and ultimately bear fruit.
Sometimes seeing that I'm in the minority makes me look at things differently. Other times the polls are reassuring, telling me that I'm on the right track.

Once you start using Trados, you won't look back.
Most of the polls are interesting, some are a joke.

As for the polls, no, they haven't changed my business conduct, and I don't think they are supposed to, but they show me I'm not alone, either in my weaknesses, or strengths.
To sum it up, I enjoy them a lot.

I was taken aback by this poll. I enjoy them all, including the ones that some find silly. I had never thought about the quick polls "changing my business conduct" and quickly checked "no." But of course, every visit to the ProZ site has an effect, however slight, on how I view and practice my profession.
However, until I get busy and start Trados, I don't see that I've made any concrete changes. Yet. So I still vote "no."
One last time (I've done this in other forums, but I need all the advice I can get): Should I start with Wordfast or go directly to Trados?

OK, I've edited the previous posting twice now and I won't try again. This isn't a big deal either, but why can't I write the name of this site without being automatically edited by the addition of "dot com"? I just wrote P r o Z and the site keeps adding . c o m. What's up?

You can download the free version of WF, and the trial version of Trados. If it turns out to be confusing for you, you can stop using one of them , but you can compare, at least the tutorials. My point is, you have a chance to test them both at no cost, you don't have to make an early decision for one of them without ever seeing the other.

is learning an agglutinative language, like Turkish. When I write Prozculaþtýrabildiklerimizdendir, for instance, it never edits automatically

The exact wording of polls/surveys is a profession. Why do translators think they can do it but laugh when others try to translate?
The results of these polls cannot be taken very seriously because the format of the question and the responses is not always logical, certain options are omitted altogether, and cannot necessarily lead to serious deductions.
