and not always, but quite frequently, agencies expect me to do it without adding an urgency fee.
"When will they ever learn...."

Cheers,

I think systematically applying an extra fee puts a lot of customers off. I find I'm less inclined nowadays to sacrifice anything for a client who can't get properly organised. Working more than usual takes more of a toll these days and it's just not worth it, especially when three weeks later they start picking the translation apart. Hey, you needed it straight away, you got it straight away. Don't you remember me pointing out that quality can suffer when you're working under pressure from deadlines? That means you pay more for worse. Get organised next time.

For some reason the clients who pay my top rate usually give me plenty of time. Endearing me even further to them, so I'll try even harder to produce the best possible work.

Oh, yes... Oct 11, 2017

I think this is one of the main problems of the translation business nowadays: agencies that are offering their clients very strict deadlines (because they don't have to do the work themselves) and telling the translators that the jobs are "urgent" or even "super-urgent", "because the client wants it like that". Not all, but many agencies only care about their clients, not thinking about their suppliers.

About the same Oct 13, 2017

My main clients are international organizations, which are required to pay extra. So they think twice before asking. I had 4 such requests this year.
