I read every morning 30 minutes and every night in bed for a couple of hours.
Any break/queue is good for reading.

as a quick reader Dec 4, 2016

I often translate/check quotes or extracts from different books, which usually are full of many references and links, so I either skim or--if it's topical or just interesting--I read it from cover to cover.
It's somewhat refreshing, I must admit, however a bit sad point is mostly they are e-books now, not tangible, paper.

I count completed books only)

I have read hundreds of manuals though.
Do not have time for reading, I have children and when I am not doing anything with them, I play with my chainsaw or mess around woodworking in the garage

I don't know Dec 4, 2016

I don’t know, I haven’t kept track, but I’d guess between 5 and 10. Anyway I read every night before going to sleep, sometimes just 30 minutes or so, others when the book is really interesting much more than that…

Neither of them was related to translations.

I used to read a lot, and there's not a single book in my 450 (+ translation related books) library that hasn't been read. However, it wasn't due to translating that I slowed down reading books. It's mainly due to the fact that when you write books, you're bound to read less books.

64 books, working towards 70 by the end of the year Dec 4, 2016

I'm an avid reader and buyer of fiction. I can't imagine not reading for at least an hour in bed.
Even though my kids are only pre-school age, they too love "reading" their own books in bed, after I have read them their goodnight story.

Some of the books were fantastic (David Mitchell, Ulitskaya), others I could barely digest (Patrick Modiano).

Always reading Dec 4, 2016

For pleasure, for study, for both and much more, I read all the time. I usually have at least two books on the go.
Same as Gianluca : morning and at lunchtime, plus any break during the day. Keeps the concentration running and means getting back into a more intense level of attention is faster. Also makes for a more efficicent use of time. I don't like to read just before going to bed, nor in bed either. One exception to this though is when I just have a couple of pages to go to finish a b

I now use eyeglasses but they are still not perfect. I experience significant worsening of my vision this year and fighting with conjuctivitis almost all the time. My eyes became so dry that I feel burning and if I work for long hours I cannot read much after which I loved so much to do before going to sleep.

Probably 5 to 10 Dec 4, 2016

That's my usual average. When I was younger I read a book a week for many years, but nowadays I'm overwhelmed with stuff that needs to get done.

I want to read more. I'm in the process of eliminating some of the activities on my calendar to free up more time to read.

5 to 10 (considering whole books) Dec 5, 2016

I'm supposing the question refers to whole books. Thus, 1 answered 5 to 10.
But considering all the "partial books" we read on a daily basis, we could probably add another 5 to 10 books there.

Cusiously, this year I read all Chris Carter's books. We graduated from high-school together, and I never thought I would one day see a school mate being a best seller all over the world. I finally found a store in England that would deliver his books in Brazil (since they aren't for sa

I finally found a store in England that would deliver his books in Brazil (since they aren't for sale around here), and I bought all of them.

Loads Dec 9, 2016

But far fewer than in many past years - I get to sleep more quickly these days, and some of the times when I would grab a book [on a journey] I am now caught up with social media. How's that for a confession. But I like being more in touch with old friends and family and had been struggling to do this merely by the annual Christmas card.
