Switzerland is a small country in the heart of Europe. At the same time, Switzerland is big with regard to the diversity of its culture and scenery. French "savoir vivre" typifies the west; Mediterranean influences lend the south its Italian-style charm; and a Germanic legacy reigns to the north. The centre of the country and the greater part of its surface area are dominated by mountains.
