Freelance translation for firms, institutions, and agencies in the United States, Latin America, and Europe since 1989: extensive experience with legal and financial documents (corporate law, contracts, legislation, articles of incorporation, IFRS, financial statements, annual reports, stock-market analyses, bank contracts, insurance documents) and academic texts, mainly in history, economics, anthropology, political science.
Extensive experience with international organizations (freelance and on short-term contracts).
Published translations include:
Bandits, Peasants and Politics: The Case of “La Violencia” in Colombia, Gonzalo Sánchez and Donny Meertens, University of Texas Press, 2001, and Women in Mexico: A Past Unveiled, Julia Tuñón Pablos, University of Texas Press, 1999.
Offering translation from Portuguese since 2013, mainly in the legal, financial, and insurance fields. In Aug. 2012, passed the US State Department exam for external translators (SP>EN), with "public trust moderate risk" approval level. In 2017, relocated from Mexico to Spain and was hired as a senior translator, in-house, for a financial services company. In September 2021, went back to freelance translating. Currently living in Tomares.
