Source text - English On my right hand there were lines of fishing-stakes resembling a mysterious system of half-submerged bamboo fences, incomprehensible in its division of the domain of tropical fishes, and crazy of aspect as if abandoned for ever by some nomad tribe of fishermen now gone to the other end of the ocean; for there was no sign of human habitation as far as the eye could reach. To the left a group of barren islets, suggesting ruins of stone walls, towers, and blockhouses, had its foundations set in a blue sea that itself looked solid, so still and stable did it lie below my feet; even the track of light from the westering sun shone smoothly, without that animated glitter which tells of an imperceptible ripple. And when I turned my head to take a parting glance at the tug which had just left us anchored outside the bar, I saw the straight line of the flat shore joined to the stable sea, edge to edge, with a perfect and unmarked closeness, in one leveled foloor half brown, half blue under the enormous dome of the sky. Corresponding in their insignificance to the islets of the sea, two small clumps of trees, one on each side of the only fault in the impeccable joint, marked the mouth of the river Meinam we had just left on the first preparatory stage of our homeward journey; and, far back on the inland level, a larger and loftier mass, the grove surrounding the great Paknam pagoda, was the only thing on which the eye could rest from the vain task of exploring the monotonous sweep of the horizon. Here and there gleams as of a few scattered pieces of silver marked the winding of the great river; and on the nearest of them, just within the bar, the tug steaming right into the land became lost to my sight, hull and funnel and masts, as though the impassive earth had swallowed her up without an effort, without a tremor. My eye followed the light cloud of her smoke, now here, now there, above the plain, according to the devious curves of the stream, but always fainter and further away, till I lost it at last behind the mitre-shaped hill of the great pagoda. And then I was left alone with my ship, anchored at the head of the Gulf of Siam.
Translation - Macedonian Десно од мене имаше редица рибарски колци, налик на некаква необична ограда од полускриени бамбусови трски, која чудно ги разделила видовите тропски риби и наизглед запоставена како да ја напуштило засекогаш некое номадско племе рибари заминато сега на друиот крај од океанот; ашто на хоризонтот немаше ни трага ни глас од човечко суштество. Лево, една група пусти островчиња, со урнатини од камени ѕидови, кули и колипки, своето подножје го имаше во синото море кое и самото се чинеше јадро, толку мирно и тивко лежеше под моите стопала; дури и зракот светлина од западното сонце сјаеше нежно, без онаа палава блескот, ќерка на заслепувачкото жуборење. А кога се свртев, а последен пат да фрлам поглед на реморкерот кој само што не остави закотвени крај дината, ја видов правата линија што ги спојуваше рамниот брег и скаменетото море, соединети, во совршена и непореметена близост на еден свод полу-златен, полу-син под огромната небесна шир. Налик на островчињата по својата безначајност, два мали честака, по едно на секоја страна од единствената маана на непорочниот спој го означува устието на реката Мејнам низ која само што испловивме при првиот пробен чекор од патот кон дома; а далеку зад нас, на копното, едно побујно џиновско тело, гората која ја опкружуваше големата Панамска Пагода, беше единствената предишка за погледот од здодевната должност да го истражува едноличниот досег на хоризнтот. Овде-онде неколку расфрлени зраци сребреникав сјај ги навестуваа свиоците на големата река; а во најблискиот од нив, крај дината, реморкерот кој пиштеше кон брегот ми се изгуби од вид, бродскиот труп и оџакот и јарболите, како заспаната земја да го голтна без напор , без трепет. Го следев со поглед воздушестиот облак пареа, овде-онде, над падинката, зависно од подмолните кривини на течението, но секогаш поблед и подалечен, додека најпосле не го изгубив зад накосениот рид на големата Пагода. Macedonian to English: Македонија менува пристап во разговорите за името со Грција
Source text - Macedonian Метју Нимиц, медијаторот назначен од ОН за решавање на разликата за името меѓу Грција и Македонија, слета на аеродромот во Скопје во време кога финишира процедурата за преименување во „ Аеродорм: Александар Велики“.
Дополнително, на патот кон македонскиот парламент Нимиц можеше да ги види патоказите кон тој ист аеродром на кои е испишано името на античкиот великан поради што медијаторот и беше повикан povikan во нова посредничка мисија меѓу Атина и Скопје.
На македонскиот државен врв Нимиц му ја пренесе лутата порака на Дора Бакојани – шефицата на грчката дипломатија – дека ваквиот чекор се толкува како директно кршење на Привремената спогодба која ги регулира релациите меѓу двете земји и дека е непотребно нарушување на билатералните односи.
Како што дознава БИРН Нимиц на македонската страна им ја пренесе директната закана на кабинетот на грчкиот премиер Костас Караманлис дека поради преименувањето на аеродромот Атина размислува да се повлече од Привремената спогодба, со која се регулираат сите прашања меѓу двете земји со исклучок на името.
Прекинувањето на спогодбата би значело дека Грција нема повеќе да биде обврзана да не го блокира приемот на Македонија во меѓународните организации како што е НАТО или ЕУ, доколку земјатѕа ја користи референцата ФИРОМ.
Но, Скопје останува мирно на оваа закана.
Антонио Милошоски, министерот за надворешни работи вели дека преименувањето на Скопскиот аеродром во „Александар Велики“,само ќе го придвижи решавањето на проблемот со името.
„Мислам дека со тоа ќе се поттикне едно одмерено задвижување на дискусијата со името, рече Милошоски за локалните медиуми, додавајќи дека промената на името на аеродромот не е осмислена провокација.
Translation - English UN appointed mediator for resolving the name dispute between Greece and Macedonia, Matthew Nimetz, landed at the Skopje airport just as the procedure for renaming it into “Airport: Alexander the Great” was finishing.
Additionally, on the way to the Macedonian Parliament, Nimetz could see the traffic signs towards the airport on which the name of the ancient conqueror is written, because of which the mediator was called for a new mediating mission between Athens and Skopje.
Nimetz conveyed the angry message from Dora Bakojani, the Greek Foreign Minister, to the Macedonian senior officials – that this step is interpreted as a direct violation of the Interim Agreement, which regulates the relations between the two countries, and that it is a needless breach of the bilateral relations.
As BIRN finds out, Nimetz conveyed to the Macedonian side the direct threat from the cabinet of the Greek Prime Minister, Kostas Karamanlis, that due to the renaming of the airport, Athens is considering withdrawal from the Interim Agreement, which regulates all issues between the two countries, except for the name.
The breach of the Agreement would mean that Greece will no longer be obliged not to block the admission of Macedonia in the international organizations, such as NATO or EU, if the country uses the reference FYROM.
But, Skopje remains calm at this threat.
Antonio Milososki, the Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, says that the renaming of the Skopje airport into “Alexander the Great” will only move forward the resolution of the name issue.
“I think that it will stimulate a moderate move forward of the discussions regarding the name,” Milososki stated for the local media, adding that the change of the airport name is not a premeditated provocation.

Source text - English Whereas, pursuant to Article 27(1) of Directive 77/388/EEC, the Council, acting unanimously on a proposal from the Commission, may authorise any Member State to introduce special measures for derogation from that Directive in order to simplify the procedure for charging the tax or to prevent certain types of tax evasion and avoidance;
Whereas, by letter registered at the Commission on 9 June 1997, the Kingdom of the Netherlands requested authorisation to introduce a measure derogating from Articles 2 and 28a(1) of Directive 77/388/EEC;
Whereas, in accordance with Article 27(3) of Directive 77/388/EEC, the other Member States were informed on 10 September 1997 of the request submitted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
Whereas that special measure provides, firstly, for exemption of the supply and intra-Community acquisition of used and waste materials, with the exception of non-ferrous metals, in the case of taxable entities with an annual turnover of less than NLG 2,5 million and, secondly, for exemption of the supply and intra-Community acquisition of non-ferrous metals
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The Kingdom of the Netherlands is hereby authorised until 31 December 1999 to apply a special measure for the taxation of used and waste materials that contains provisions derogating from Directive 77/388/EEC
Translation - Macedonian со оглед на тоа што, во согласност со член 27(1) од Директивата 77/388/ЕЕЗ, Советот, постапувајќи едногласно во врска со предлог од Комисијата, може да ја овласти секоја земја-членка да воведе посебни мерки за отстапување од наведената Директива за да ја поедностави постапката за наплата на данок или да спречи некои видови на избегнување да се плати данок;
со оглед на тоа што, со писмо регистрирано во Комисијата од 9 јуни 1997 година, Кралството Холандија побара овластување да воведе мерка за отстапување од член 2 и 28а(1) од Директивата 77/388/ЕЕЗ;
со оглед на тоа што, во согласност со член 27(3) од Директивата 77/388/ЕЕЗ, другите земји-членки беа информирани на 10 септември 1977 година, за барањето поднесено од страна на Кралството Холандија;
