Bio

JPMedicalTrans - Japanese Medical Translation

Medical Device Manuals and Patient-facing Materials

Due to my increasing workload, I am no longer actively seeking new clients on this platform as of 2022. Furthermore, my rates are significantly higher than the average offered by registered translators on this site. However, if you are still interested in working with me, please click here and get in touch.

When I first began translating professionally 20 years ago, my areas of expertise were business and marketing, but as time passed, I began to receive job offers for translating healthcare product brochures, medical questionnaires, medical device manuals, and other patient-facing materials. The demand for healthcare and medical translations has constantly increased over the years, and in 2020, it became my specialization.

In 2017, I was diagnosed with stage 4b Hodgkin's Lymphoma, was admitted to the hospital, and underwent ten months of chemotherapy and other treatments. To make matters worse, I experienced a potentially fatal adverse event because the chemotherapy I was scheduled to receive was rarely used in Japan. As a result, I had to rely on international scholarly journals for the most up-to-date information on side effects and other risks.

Even after fully recovering from lymphoma, I still have to return for follow-up visits and have cancer screening tests on a regular basis. As a result, my patient experience in the Japanese healthcare system continues to broaden and deepen. Simultaneously, a desire to give back to the industry and its people began to grow in my mind, which has now evolved into a sense of mission as a Japanese medical translator.

As a result, in addition to my expertise in subjects gained through work and study, as a cancer survivor, I gained first-hand knowledge and experience in medical and healthcare procedures, diseases, and health topics.
