Abstract
In today’s extremely competitive aluminium recycling industry, new technology is being constantly developed and applied to extract the maximum return of aluminium from the various types of scrap available on the market in the most energy efficient way. Throwing scrap into a reverbatory furnace with a few shovel-fulls of salt is no longer sufficient.
To remain in business as a scrap recycling plant, the challenges now are to obtain the highest yields from scrap, at the lowest production costs whilst complying with today’s ever tightening emissions and environmental standards.
This paper presents a case study of recent experience by a Ukrainian secondary aluminium recycling company ADM Limited working in conjunction with Pyrotek’s Engineering Division companies EMP Technologies and TAB Refractories to modify the design and function of an existing dry heath furnace to a single chamber reverbatory melting furnace with Electromagnetic pump and LOTUSS melting system.
It discusses reasons behind the decision making to change the operational practice, the stages of the project, equipment and refractory installation and comparison of the performance for different types of scrap.

Реферат
При существующей высокой конкуренции в области переработки алюминия постоянно происходит разработка и внедрение новых технологий для максимального извлечения алюминия из различных типов алюминиевого лома, предлагаемого на рынках, при этом предпринимаются попытки наиболее экономичного использования энергии. Сейчас уже недостаточно просто забросить лом в отражательную печь, добавив несколько лопат солевого флюса.
Для успешной работы предприятия по переработке лома необходимо решить ряд задач, включая достижение максимального выхода металла из лома при минимальных производственных затратах, при этом соблюдая современные жесткие требования к ограничению выбросов и обеспечению экологической безопасности.
В этой работе представлены результаты изучения работы украинского предприятия по переработке вторичного алюминия ADM Limited, работающего в сотрудничестве с компаниями EMP Technologies и TAB Refractories, входящими в состав проектно-конструкторского отдела компании Pyrotek, рассматривали возможность модификации конструкции и функций существующей подовой печи с сухим золоудалением с целью получения однокамерной отражательной печи с электромагнитным насосом и плавильной системой LOTUSS.
Рассматриваются причины, обосновывающие решение изменить технологический процесс, этапы проекта, установка оборудования и огнеупоров, а также приводится сравнение производственных показателей для различных типов лома.
