Growth hormone is produced in short pulses several times a day, but especially at night when we are asleep. As the name indicates, it is an important hormone for growth in children and adolescents. But, in fact, growth hormone is produced throughout our lifetime. The hormone also plays a very important role for metabolism. It strengthens bones, muscles, the heart and circulation, and also has effects on the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates.
