Working Background

I ran my own translation agency for ten years, from 2001. During that time I have acted as the in-house French to English translator and editor and proofreader for English text. I consider myself capable of writing well in my mother tongue (English) and can guarantee you will never end up with 'Franglish'. I always take great care to ensure grammatical and spelling accuracy but, most of all, the final draft must always read like a well written, native piece of English.

My main subjects are IT/ICT (Computer Hardware, Software and Systems), Medical (especially Pharmaceutical), Electrical Engineering, Lighting, Video Systems, Surveillance Technology, and European Institutions, History and Tourism. I use MemoQ and SDL Trados.

The Internet and World Wide Web

I have an excellent knowledge of the Internet and World Wide Web having trained (X)HTML, XML, JavaScript and PHP at some of the largest IT training companies in London. So you can be sure that I can handle all mark-up code directly in your web files without destroying them! I can also localise Flash movies.

Tyesetting and Document Production

I also have a knowledge of the standard typesetting tools Adobe InDesign and QuarkXpress as well as Framemaker, Publisher and image editing software such as PhotoShop and Fireworks. If typesetting is involved in the project I can handle that with confidence too.

Multimedia: Video, Audio and Subtitles

I am also able to edit video and produce DVDs with full, professional menus, foreign language sound-tracks and subtitles. I use Adobe Premier and Encore as my main tools, together with Sony Vegas, Sound Forge and other software.

As a former professional musician I am capable of recording high quality audio and you can take advantage of the low studio costs here in Manila for your foreign language or English audio project. I also record my own voice for English language projects and would be happy to send out samples.
