Cada componente del ciclo hidrológico tiene una respuesta diferente a las anomalías de precipitación, por ejemplo, el contenido de humedad del suelo responde en escalas de tiempo relativamente cortas, mientras que las aguas subterráneas, escorrentía y almacenamiento de embalses reflejan anomalías de precipitación a largo plazo (Lloyd-Hughes y Saunders, 2002). En la práctica, las duraciones a corto plazo de los eventos extremos (de semanas a meses) afectan las actividades agrícolas, mientras que las duraciones a largo plazo de los eventos extremos (de estaciones a años) impactan la gestión de regímenes hidrológicos y recursos hídricos. Por lo tanto, las evaluaciones multivariables parecen ser efectivas para el estudio de eventos extremos (Hao y Aghakouchak, 2014; Zhang et al., 2017; Chen et al., 2020).
Translation - English Several studies suggested that the characteristics of extreme events, such as their onsets, persistence and terminations, cannot be identified precisely by analyzing a single hydrometeorological variable (AghaKouchak, 2015; Dracup, Lee, and Paulson, 1980; Hao and Aghakouchak, 2014). Each component of the hydrological cycle has a different response to precipitation anomalies, for instance, soil moisture content responds in relatively short timescales, whereas groundwater, runoff, and reservoir storage reflect long-term precipitation anomalies (Lloyd-Hughes and Saunders, 2002). In practice, short-term durations of extreme events (from weeks to months) affect agricultural activities, while long-term durations of extreme events (from seasons to years) impact the management of hydrological regimes and water resources. Thus, multivariate assessments seem to be effective for the study of extreme events (Hao and Aghakouchak, 2014; Zhang et al., 2017; Chen et al., 2020).

Bio
I have been working in the field of Teaching and Translation of English and Spanish since I obtained my BA in Humanities with a major in English Language and Literature (Universidad de Chile) in 1988. Later, I graduated as a Professional Translator from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2006); and I did a Master's in Translation Theory and Practice, at University College London (2011). I also have an MA in English Language Teaching, from The University of Southampton (2014).
Thus, my work experience spans over 30 years, during which I have worked with many companies, businesses, universities, professionals, and academics from the most diverse fields and disciplines.
