Thing is, marketing texts and tourism texts and websites in general are made to look deceptively easy.

You need to get as many people on board as possible, so you appeal to the lowest common denominator. If there's any complex element, it has to be dumbed down. You want people clicking frantically on "Buy now".

That doesn't mean it's simple. On the contrary. Marketing people have learned how to write in their own language. They've done communication courses and have a knack for saying something in a way that's exciting, appealing, thrilling, cute or whatever. The translator has to find the exact same register and also manage to iron out anything that might sound a bit foreign, except in tourism where a little local colour may come across as exotic, which presumably you're looking for if you're searching for holidays in a foreign country (unless, of course you're English in which case you're just desperate for sunshine JOKE).

It'll take a native to know exactly how to do it. Of course they do also need to be a jolly good translator.
