another way to look at 沙发 Apr 9, 2008

Steve, there is another way of looking at 沙发. It got its latest usage from the word 首发. When you keep saying 首发, it blurs into 沙发. They both have the initials of S.F.

Yueyin,

Don't you remember that you criticized the moderator Jianjun in rage when he hid your postings? Was that a good example?

However, your agenda with the submission of support ticket was very different than mine. While I was concerned with the rights a member of this website should have, yours were to get him down. Well, he knew that he couldn't defend himself against the clique, so he resigned with grudges which came to outburst somewhere else.

Actually, the ones who tried to mediate sincerely were Donglai and Shaunna. I appreciate their righteousness. As to your help in settling the issue, I have no comments.

I see. That makes some sense.

As you may have figured out, I have a pet peeve about pronunciation.

Steve,

You know my English is not as good as I would like to. From time to time I need to check up words in dictionaries. I didn't know what peeve was. so I went to Wenlin for help. I usually don't use Wenlin, but it is the closest one I could get. Apparently Wenlin doesn't have a good collection of English words. It only has pee in its collection, no peeve.

The dictionary I have says Apr 9, 2008

Peeve means to cause to be annoyed or resentful.
Does it have any connotations?

Tingting and Jason, here's a pretty funny one Apr 9, 2008

My pet peeve is when I hear someone say, "I could care less." It just annoys me to no end. What they are actually saying is that they care about it somewhat. What they mean is "I couldn't care less". Then they mean that they care about something zero amount. Not at all —none. So, they couldn't care less, because it's not possible. I hear it all the time! In movies, on television, everywhere! Another big one is gum popping. This one is just out of control. Oh! It drives me insane!

It was from this link ...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22683436/

BTW, Tingting, I forgot to say, your English is very good IMO.
