Source text - Japanese 陰陽思想とは､五行思想と同じく古代中国で説かれた思想。
宇宙のありとあらゆるものは､「陰」と「陽」という対立するカタチ（例えば太陽と月､天と地､昼と夜）で存在し､それぞれが勢いを増したり､衰えたりすることで万物は変化する。そして「陰」と「陽」の“気（エネルギー）”が調和して､
初めて自然の秩序が保たれるという思想です。この陰陽思想と五行思想が結びつくことで､陰陽五行思想は完成しました。
Translation - English There is one more theory called “Ying and Yang” which was also taught in ancient China.
The central belief in the Ying and Yang theory is that there are two natural, complementary and contradictory forces in our universe. These forces represent a true balance of power; the idea that two opposite forces, one negative and dark and one positive and bright, react to each other in a way that influences everything in the universe. For instance, Ying and Yang represent Moon and Sun, Earth and Heaven and night-time and day-time, respectively. Everything balances and changes in accordance with how these two behave. Ying and Yang are continually in the state of flux and always looking for their balancing point. One moves, the other responds.
Natural order is stabilized by the balance of Ying and Yang and the Five Cosmic Elements.
