» Better Game on Translation Business
By Siti Nur Aryani | Published 04/1/2006 | Business Issues | Recommendation:
According to my experience, job satisfaction in technical job including translation especially technical translation correlates solidly with “access to new and challenging technologies” and “opportunities for additional training and an enhancement of skills.” I think this is what we define as a better game. And the most responsible party in these matters usually is organization decision maker and their management, in short the management level.
» Peeking what’s inside the software localization & internationalization (Indonesia local context)
By Siti Nur Aryani | Published 07/25/2008 | Localization and Globalization | Recommendation:
The term of localization has to be differing from the term of translation. If translation is transferring foreign language to local language, while localization is wider, that is involving the project of component adjustment, terminology, interface users, and so on. In other words, localization is more dealing with software world than hardware world.
» Textual and Contextual (Around problem of translation, localization, and contextualization in Indonesia)
By Siti Nur Aryani | Published 02/17/2010 | Art of Translation and Interpreting | Recommendation:
With the importance of emphasizing the meaning, communication is expected to be better able to move people to understand and absorb what is presented, even more than that, for certain purposes, for example, selling products/services, - language that gives meaning to be able to move people to believe and buy anything in accordance with organization expectations.
» Bahasa Indonesia and Information Technology
By Siti Nur Aryani | Published 11/11/2010 | Localization and Globalization | Recommendation:
Technology not only affects the mutation of the use of terms, but also (this is somewhat unique) to slight limitation on use of text language (written language) with spoken language. The use of short message communication, email, social networking, and other tools and devices make written language (formal and semi-formal) deal with the written spoken-language. The written spoken-language is characterized by spoken pronouncing but in written form. This is contrast sharply different from the formal language which the use is very concerned about the rules of language while written oral language far from the rule.
» National Language versus Regional Language
By Siti Nur Aryani | Published 11/12/2010 | Art of Translation and Interpreting | Recommendation:
Every birth of a language emerge controversy. This happens in any language. In older world languages such as English and Arabic, such languages may already very well established so the root of emergence and the birth of various terms are not disputed.
» Be friend with earlier standardized, popular, and slang languages
By Siti Nur Aryani | Published 12/11/2010 | Art of Translation and Interpreting | Recommendation:
In sociological and cultural sphere like this, popular or even slang language should not being stepchild-ed, but viewed in proportion as natural phenomenon, so its preference is not seen as a polemic but as a dynamic.
