I found ProZ.com quite useful initially (the term search, KudoZ, the glossaries, etc.), but it really came into its own when I became a paying member. Now, nearly all of my jobs come through my ProZ.com profile, and through repeat requests from regular clients, and I can't remember the last time I actually bid for a job.

The Blue Board is extremely useful for filtering out undesirable clients (bad/slow payers) - a feature that is only available to full members, but it is worth its weight in gold.

I was a non-paying guest at first and noted a difference afterwards which is worth every cent of the membership fee. Besides obtaining several jobs (at fair rates and without having any KudoZ at first), I have gained some regular clients over the past 18 months. Some of them contacted me directly from the directory.

One thing is for sure, I have never regretted my membership: the forums contain a wealth of extremely useful information and colleagues are always willing to help with advice; the Blue Board has saved me from making bad business decisions on at least two occasions - saving me hundreds if not thousands of Euros and countless hours of lost time; both organizing and attending powwows has allowed me to meet some incredible people and build a strong network. Paying for membership is not only a way to gain access to all the site has to offer, for me it is also a way to support this community and encourage its development.

As a computer enthusiast, I can underline another big achievement of this site: everything is evolving, changing, new features are coming, many beta functions parallel to old ones, and still: everything's working: the servers, the database, the scripts...
