Bio
I offer audiovisual translation and game localization services, period. I don't try to be a jack-of-all-trades. And I don't just translate; I localize and transcreate. If my work accurately reflects the meaning of the source text while sounding 100% natural and entertaining in English, I know I've done my job right. After all, there is far too much literal, stilted J-E translation out there. My mission is to make sure every job I deliver improves upon that unfortunate situation one project at a time!
I translated the subtitles for many of the classic Showa-era Godzilla movies that ran on Starz and are now part of the Criterion Collection. I have also translated and QCed numerous titles currently streaming on Netflix and prepared many J-E pivot language dialogue lists (PLDL) for Japanese shows, transcribing the Japanese and translating it into natural-sounding English suitable for use in subs and dubs.
My past game projects include many AAA game titles and fan favorites, including "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes," "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Spirit of Justice," and "Final Fantasy V (mobile version)." I was the main translator for "Ōkami," one of the best-reviewed localized games ever. It was IGN's 2006 Game of the Year, and in its review, IGN said, "Capcom has somehow managed to create one of the best translations we've seen in a long, long time."
My extensive experience with Japanese language, culture, and entertainment media, including six years of studying and working in Japan, combined with my ability to write English that is both natural-sounding and entertaining will ensure your subtitles and games are top quality. I take pride in capturing the essence of the Japanese source and delivering it to Western audiences in a manner they can intuitively connect with.
