Charlie Hebdo Shooting in Paris, France.
To look at the latest news in this
developing situation, we’ll take you on a

cities around France.

and a sense of grief and loss.
More than than 3.7 million people participated

When I saw this film in 2009, I fell in love with it. I've always been passionate about living a full life, incorporating a sense of justice, peacefulness and admiration for nature. When my five year old daughter Xin told me of her dream of living in a farm with animals, old dreams of my own resurfaced. I have often floated in the air in my dreams, experiencing things that I cannot experience in the real world. I have realised that this is in fact a very common type of dream. But I wanted to live it out! I googled the type of flying device used in the film 'Fly Away Home' and found that it costs over 100,000 RMB, outside China. Getting it second hand would be cheaper, just like buying a second-hand car. I told Xin we could become just like birds, and that ‘I’ll take you flying with them.’ Reality hit back with some unwelcome news. This species of flying contraption actually has a price tag of around 300,000 to 400,000 RMB in China. Flying space will be quite limited unless one travels to remote locations. On top of that, the device will need to be transported by truck, and we would not be able to store it in a house. Chinese authorities also closely monitor low-flying air traffic. These obstacles dashed my hopes.
In 2010, I tracked down an affordable powered hang glider. The same year I also bought a car and made sure it was a model spacious enough to carry the hang glider. In October 2011, I mustered 400,000 RMB to buy the complete flying set (it took me three months to pay it off as I had gone travelling every year and thus had no savings). The wing was bought second hand, and so even the compulsory helmet didn’t come with the craft.
