Muchos inmigrantes de México y Latinoamérica, en la búsqueda por cambiar su realidad social y salir de la indigencia, escasez y falta de oportunidades que viven en sus ciudades natales, toman la decisión de traspasar ilegalmente la frontera con los Estados Unidos como única solución a sus problemas. Persiguiendo el “sueño
Americano”. dejan atrás una sociedad indiferente a su conflicto para atravesar las mas atroces pruebas de supervivencia. Muchos encuentran la Muerte en el intento.
Los que logran llegar, se topan con una nueva sociedad intimidante, violenta e intolerante a su situación; una que se siente amenazada con su llegada.
Incomprendidos e ignorados en dos tierras’ arriesgan su vida por cruzar la frontera.
No es solo esa frontera física llena de peligros , sino la frontera imaginaria que existe entre pobres y ricos, entre el norte y el sur cultural: la mas difícil de cruzar.
El objetivo de “CIRCO , MAROMA Y TEATRO , MUERTE DE UN INMIGRANTE”,
Exposición-Instalación-Altar de muertos es primeramente honrar la memoria de aquellos que murieron en el intento de cruzar hacia el otro lado, y de igual manera tratar de presentar a la sociedad una interpretación personal de la problemática creando una conciencia en el espectador sobre este tema intentando de alguna manera invertir la intolerancia. Creando una analogía entre todos los acontecimientos que el inmigrante ilegal tiene que pasar y los actos mas espectaculares que solo se ven en el teatro o el circo de una manera sarcástica, irónica, satírica.
Translation - Spanish Introduction
Many immigrants from Mexico and Latin America, in search of a change in their social reality and to escape poverty, scarcity and lack of opportunities in their countries of origin, decide to cross the border illegally to reach the United States as a last resorts solution.
In pursuit of the “American Dream” they leave behind a society indifferent to their plight in order to withstand the most atrocious survival challenges. Many find Death along the way. Those who manage to survive stumble upon a society which is intimidating, violent and intolerant towards them and their situation --- a society that feels threatened by them. Misunderstood and ignored on both sides of the border they risk their lives crossing, but the most difficult border crossing is not the physical one, but the societal one --- the one that separates the rich from the poor the north from the south…
The objective of Circus, Acrobatics and Theatre: Death of an Immigrant is to; first of all, honor the deaths of those who have died trying to cross the border, while at the same time attempting to present a personal interpretation of the situation creating awareness in the spectator in the hopes of changing their level of intolerance. The Exposition – Installation – Altar for the Dead will create an analogy between the plight of the illegal immigrant and the “spectacular acts” that we usually only see in the theater or the circus. This analogy will not be without some sarcasm, irony and satire in the same way the theater and the circus have served to make light of the saddest of human circumstances.

Currently, I'm living in Mexico. Here I have become involved in the English as a Foreign Language field. It has been fascinating! Because my studies were not in the Education field, I have taken courses and certifications to strengthen my teaching skills and especially to keep myself updated to new teaching methods and technology. As a matter of fact, I have become a teacher's trainer. All my workshops and seminars are geared towards challenging the teachers to become more effective at: developing autonomous learning skills in their students, enhancing the teachers comfort level with technology so that their classes become a blended learning experience for the students and finally, looking at English as a communication tool to learn other contents as well as the language itself.
Before Mexico, I was a practicing attorney mostly dedicated to public administration, contracts, property, sports and recreation public policy, and encouraging economic development within the pharmaceutical field. Legal systems are fascinating to me, especially because I have had the opportunity to work and study under a European Civil Law system and Common Law one.
Aside from Law and Education, I'm involved in a silversmith project. Designing and making jewelry is a beautiful hobby that I came upon here in Mexico and which has become another interesting area of know-how in my life.
The reader may be wondering where does translation come into play. I stumbled into translation right after College, as I was working with an NGO in D.C. and they instructed me to translate volumes of Guidelines for the Housing and Urban Development Department. That was my first translating job and ever since I have been sidelining as a translator. Although, I must say nowadays my translations are much more professional, as a lawyer and an educator language is everything. I have come to really care about effective and accurate use of language and of communication as way to breakdown our cultural divide.
My biggest translation job so far has been a full course of Coaching Manuals that are currently being used in Colombia, Peru and Puerto Rico.
I have also begun learning French, just recently passed my A2 exam. Hurray!!
