Source text - English Pipeline Right of Way (ROW)
7.2.1 The construction right-of-way shall be graded to a flat or smooth rolling surface and shall be maintained accessible with standard four-wheel drive vehicles on at least one side of the line during construction period. Irregularities shall not obstruct access of construction equipment.
7.2.2 In sabkha areas, fills shall be provided to support construction equipment as required. The width of such fills and cuts shall not be less than the area to be stabilized in accordance with section 14, and the adjacent slopes shall not be steeper than four to one. The construction and final right of way shall not be less than 6 meters.
7.2.3 The final finished right-of-way shall be at least 5 meters (6 meters in sabkha areas) wide from bottom edge of pipeline berm. It shall be completed in a manner which permits routine operation and maintenance access with standard four-wheel drive vehicles.

7.2.1 Полосу отвода выравнивают до получения спокойного рельефа или умеренно пересечённой местности. При этом в период строительства необходимо обеспечить подъезд к полосе отвода для стандартных автомобилей с четырьмя ведущими колёсами, по крайней мере, с одной стороны. Неровности следует засыпать для обеспечения проезда строительной техники к полосе отвода.
7.2.2 В районах с сабхами засыпку выполняют для обеспечения устойчивости строительной техники. Согласно разделу 14 ширина полосы засыпки и выемки не должна быть меньше ширины укрепляемого участка. При этом степень крутизны примыкающих откосов не должна превышать соотношение 4 к 1. Строительная и окончательная полоса отвода не должна быть менее 6 метров.
7.2.3 Ширина окончательной полосы отвода должна быть не менее 5 метров (6 метров в сабхах) от нижней кромки валика. 5.1 Treatment of Hydrostatic Test Water
When the equipment contact time with hydrotest water may exceed 14 days, an approved oxygen scavenger (see Appendix 1) shall be added to the hydrostatic test water. Treat the water before it enters the system. Use batching scrapers and/or a slug of nitrogen to separate the air in the system from coming in contact with the treated water, and then fill the system with water injecting sufficient oxygen scavenger to maintain its residual concentration at greater than 20 ppm and an oxygen concentration of less than 10 ppb.
5.2 Lay-up Procedures
5.2.1 Equipment must be laid-up after hydrotesting unless it can be ensured that it will be returned to service within 30 days from the first introduction of hydrotest water to the system. Use one of the lay-up methods detailed below. See Paragraph 7 for requirements for specific systems. Lay-up procedures for pipelines under the responsibility of Pipelines Department shall be approved prior to hydrotest by the General Supervisor, Pipelines Technical Services Division (PTSD), and by the Manager of the concerned area. Approval of lay-up procedures for other equipment shall be the responsibility of the Engineering Superintendent or his designate.
5.2.2 Wet Lay-up
5.2.2.1 Wet lay-up shall be achieved whenever possible by displacing the hydrotest water from the line after hydrotest and replacing with appropriately treated lay-up water. This minimizes the personnel safety and environmental risks of hydrotest ruptures releasing biocide-treated waters. In cases where this is not possible, wet lay-up will require the use of water adequately treated with oxygen scavenger and biocide at the beginning of the hydrotest and will require safety and environmental reviews of the procedure.

Если время контакта воды с оборудованием превышает 14 дней, необходимо добавить в воду раскислитель (см. Приложение 1). Обработку воды следует выполнять до закачки воды в систему. Следует применять поршни-разделители и газовые пробки во избежание контакта имеющегося в системе воздуха и воды для гидравлических испытаний. Далее систему заполняют водой с добавлением раскислителя, при этом остаточная концентрация раскислителя не должна быть более 20 ppm (частиц на миллион), а концентрация кислорода – менее 10 ppb (частиц на миллиард).
5.2. Процедуры консервации
5.2.1. Консервацию оборудования выполняют после гидравлических испытаний, если нет гарантии ввода оборудования в эксплуатацию в течение 30 дней после первой закачки воды в систему. Следует использовать один из способов консервации, описанных ниже. В параграфе 7 описаны требования к специальному оборудованию. Процедуры консервации трубопроводов, которые подпадают под ответственность департамента трубопроводов, должны быть одобрены главным супервайзером отдела технического обслуживания трубопроводов и руководителем соответствующего подразделения. Одобрение процедур консервации другого оборудования является ответственностью руководителя службы инжиниринга или назначенного им лица.
5.2.2. Мокрая консервация
5.2.2.1. Мокрую консервацию выполняют, по возможности, путём вытеснения испытательной воды из системы после гидравлического испытания и закачки в систему очищенной воды. Таким образом, сводится к минимуму риск для нанесения вреда окружающей среде и персоналу в результате разрыва во время испытания с выбросом воды, обработанной биоцидом. В случаях, когда это неосуществимо, мокрую консервацию проводят с применением раскислителя и с очисткой воды биоцидом перед гидравлическим испытанием. При этом следует пересмотреть положения процедуры, касающиеся техники безопасности и охраны окружающей среды.

Remote sensing technology uses airborne and satellite imagery to update basemaps, derive new maps showing land use/land cover and vegetation vigor, and support modeling of hydrology and environment. Ancillary data such as field sample measurements, GPS locations, topographic maps and digital elevation models (DEM’s) are integrated with the imagery and derived maps using a Geographical Information System (GIS). A flowchart documenting the work processes used by this project for implementing remote sensing and GIS and examples of images and derived maps are included in this paper.

Source text - English When crude oil is released into the environment, physical and biological processes—collectively referred to as weathering—immediately begins to alter its composition. Evaporation, dissolution into water, sorption to soils, photo-oxidation, and biological degradation each affect the distribution of fugitive crude oil hydrocarbons in the environment. The most rapid weathering changes are volatilization and solubilization of the light hydrocarbons in the C6 to C16 range. This carbon range can account for approximately one third of crude oil. The light hydrocarbon fractions of crude oil accidentally released at tropical latitudes can be completely degraded within days or weeks of the initial spill. Once the volatile hydrocarbons are lost, aerobic microbial degradation of the remaining hydrocarbon mass becomes the major oil weathering pathway. The relative rates of biodegradation follow a logical process where the bacteria will generally degrade the most energy-rich, kinetically labile compounds first (e.g., normal alkanes) followed by least energy rich and recalcitrant compounds (e.g., polycyclic aliphatic biomarker compounds such as the tricyclic terpanes).
