by deduction from Explanation: As no one produced an answer here I thought I would in the interest of there being a future reference in the glossary. Like Ivana I did a detailed and web search and looked in three paper dictionaries to no avail. (It's sad when Devoto-Oli doesn't help you out). The two links below (such as they are) leave nothing left to guess that the term indeed means 'using a deduction method' or 'by deduction from'.
