Anyone have a more elegant translation for "Notlagentarif" than "emergency tarif" ... was thinking about "exigency tarif" as well..... hm

neutral  philgoddard: I disagree with Jaime. It means need in the sense of financial difficulty, but I don't think your suggestion works because "need" is ambiguous. Need-based could simply mean "as required".

Explanation:
Payment at this rate entitles the insured person only to acute and pain treatments, and for chronic illness (funnily enough).

It appears to be roughly equivalent to what is called "emergency insurance" or "catastrophic health insurance" in the USA.

neutral  AllegroTrans: I have never seen this term used for health cover anywhere in Europe and in any case it is not about health emergencies but about contributors in financial difficulty (unable to pay the usual contributions)
