Freelance translator with most work coming from translation agents both in Japan and the U.S. Translations of such subjects as computer software, hardware, electronics, telecommunications, communication satellite positioning theory (GPS), investment counseling, finance, semiconductor circuits, and assorted subjects for litigation (Sumitomo Metals case, etc.).

Sept. 1983 to June 1996

Freelance translator in Japan. Work consisting of computer software, hardware, electronics, telecommunications, LSI testers, consumer electronics (particularly VCRs), investment counseling, finance, semiconductor fabrication, geothermal energy, politics, economics, satellite positioning, art exhibits, ballet criticism, museum management, theater scripts. One book on history of transportation in Japan (UNU), another on Japanese style of management, titled Panamanagement (for Matsushita Electrical [Panasonic] and PHP). Translation and rewrite work in development economics and medicine.

In business for myself in the United States. Main areas of translation were computer software, computer hardware, CAD/CAM, semiconductor design simulation, electronics equipment, investment counseling. Interpretation work in the oil and shipping industries.

Translator for the Japan Interpreter, a quarterly, semi-scholarly journal of articles about Japanese society and politics. My work focused mainly on economics, business, religion and finance.

Translation work similar to above, with the addition of in-house checking of translations done by others in a position known as a "checker."

Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill, California. Basic courses in computer science and electronics.

U.S. Army Signal Corps as radio-relay and carrier operator. Work experience also takes in a total of four years in metallurgical testing and inspection in the steel industry.

eMac with OSX4.5, iMac G3, with Mac OS 9.2 and and Macintosh Performa 6320CD (PPC) (OS9.1). Cable modem. Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer and Brother 275 fax.
