Color……ado Dec 29, 2007

PS. I was actually looking at the mountain Cabins in Colorado on eBay! I was attracted by the spectacular mountain views and colors of the foliage in the fall against snow peaks. But most of these you need to have your own well for water!

David,

The mountain Cabins is in the west of Colorado Springs. Actually, there are a lot more beautiful places in Colorado. I believe some of the photos below reflect the scenery you described above:

You can also visit Rocky Mountain National Park:

http://www.nps.gov/romo/

You may be surprised when you hear that Colorado has more sunshine than any other state in the U.S.

You are mostly welcome to stay in my home when you come to Colorado. Come with Kevin! Of course, Chance, Steve, Wenjer and Bin Li, just to name a few, are also welcome! When you come, I’ll certainly take a vacation!

My friends in China may not believe this. If you buy an annual pass for $50.00, you may visit all the national parks in the United States for as many times as you wish for the entire year!

BTW, China and the U.S. reached an agreement most recently that Chinese tourists may join tourist groups to come to the U.S. for sightseeing (and shopping). If any peers here would like to come, here is my sincere welcome!

Probably, we should quit our jobs as translators and jointly establish a travel agency.

Plenty of medical doctors trained in Cuba & the States coming back to their nest.

Wenjer,

No wonder Dec 29, 2007

No wonder the prices of new homes in Austin have kept going up until recently!
David Shen wrote:

Yueyin and Steve,

Not too long ago, the real estate agents in Silicon Valley are urging people with extra money to go to Texas and buy up property there. Austin, and somewhere north of Dallas were the places they recommended most. I think they learned that from "温州炒房团"!

Not proactive enough Dec 29, 2007

Hi, it's Friday night again. I found the the articles in the above links interesting and make a lot of sense. I am not looking for a retirement place yet, but it is never too early to start looking. Wouldn't it be nice if one could have a place in the north for the summer and one in the south for the winter?

In the back of my mind, I always thought it might be a good idea to one day purchase a condo in Montreal - the affordable ones were running around $200k before the dramatic devaluation of the U.S. dollar.

But I've been too laid back to take any actions.

Mountain terrain Dec 29, 2007

Hey, guys,

High altitudes are out for me.

Most of my life I've been living in flat, low lying areas: Long Island, Beijing, the Hudson Valley, Austin. 陕北's mountain terrain was not a pleasurable experience overall.

For me, mountains make for nice scenery, but they're not the ideal living environment.

Yueyin,

I had a job offer from Hewlett Packard in Loveland, Colorado the year I graduated. It's halfway between Denver and Colorado Springs. Without doubt, I chose IBM in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Dec 29, 2007

Steve,
